Not such a long drive today, from Erldunda to Yulara (Uluru). The resort is extensive, however we caravanners and campers are lesser mortals, confined to the back block on sloping, red dirt sites and without water. The facilities are good, but all no-frills, despite the high nightly fee.

We drove out to the incredible Uluru and did a 45-minute walk around part of the base of the rock. Even that smallish section showed us many wonders. All of the features are explained from the aboriginal people's perspective. It is a place of great significance and even now there are areas in which photography is not permitted, because they are areas still used for the education and initiation  of their children.

We came back to the van for a cuppa, then packed a snack dinner and drove out to the sunset viewing area where we watched the colours change over two hours until nightfall. Of course, everyone has seen numerous photos of the rock, but we had to take our own, anyway, and will bore you with our versions just the same.
